The Media Policy Center

The Media Policy Center (MPC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit production organization dedicated to using media as a tool for public engagement and social impact. Through its work, MPC seeks to inform, challenge, and engage a responsive citizenry across the political, social, and economic spectrum.

Operating at the intersection of media, education, and public policy, MPC develops and supports projects that explore critical issues, including civic engagement, healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, and community development. The organization serves as a production home for public television specials, educational initiatives, and multi-platform media projects designed to reach broad and diverse audiences.

MPC’s approach is rooted in a trans-media model—where a single project evolves across formats to maximize impact. Film and video content are expanded into transcripts, digital archives, interactive websites, books, and educational curricula, often accompanied by community-based programming such as forums, seminars, and public discussions. This model ensures that each project extends beyond a single medium to create lasting educational and cultural value.

Founded by Dale Bell and Harry Wiland, the Media Policy Center has produced award-winning work that empowers individuals and communities to better understand the issues that shape their lives.
